Halloween / How do you celebrate Halloween?

I ♥ Halloween.

Vampires attracted me as long as I can remember. When I was a little one (much too little to be allowed to watch anything else but Sesamestreet) I watched a Dracula movie, lurking into the living room, while my parents thought I was sleeping already. Christopher Lee played Dracula and LilSanni nearly peed her pants.

When I grew up I found my love for good scary and horror movies. One of our favorite Halloween amusements is watching scary movies. Although Halloween is not celebrated so much in our part of the world we love to decorate our home as spooky as possible. A more or less scary Jack O´Lantern sits right next to us, keeping track of us eating his innards… delicious pumpkin soup.

Last year we´ve had about 15 visits of little ghosts, witches and vampires looking for treats. An enormous number for Germany - unbelievable, but true. it makes me happy to see Halloween is getting bigger and bigger around here. So we´ll have tons of treats this year and we won´t mind to eat the leftovers, if there´ll be any.

I guess there won´t be much left. We´ll be here, the little wizard Luis will attend, as well as Jersey aka “The Hound of Baskerville” and some invited friends, plus the trick-or-treaters. Oh, let me count… okay, I´m sorry folks… off to prepare some more treats =)

[Warning: Viewers might find the picture displayed in the link disturbing. I didn´t post the picture/video directly because I didn´t want to ruin "boobies" for the guys or make the girls need a barf-bag or two...]

It happened to someone who knows someone you know… You’re next. Never talk to strangers, never answer the phone, never flash your lights, never leave the car, always boil your undies in hot water and always believe, what you’re told…

Infestation of Larvae in Human Breast

Fwd: Wash before Wearing! It is horrible. Guys tell your wife, sisters, girlfriends, and girl cousins wash bra before wearing.

ALL PLEASE WASH ALL BRAS, UNDERWEAR WHEN YOU BUY BEFORE WEARING THEM. WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT PARASITE IS IN OUR CLOTHES WHEN WE BUY THEM. FORWARD TO EVERYBODY YOU KNOW. LET ME FORE WARN YOU THIS IS SO SQUIMISH, I FEEL LIKE SOMETHING IS CRAWLING ALL OVER ME EVEN AS I SEND THIS TO YOU. BE AWARE. IT IS SO GROTESQUE. PLEASE WASH YOUR UNDERWEAR BEFORE WEARING. PREFERABLY IN BOILING HOT WATER.

This is not for the weak; I have never seen anything like this. Read the article first before looking at the picture and film. This looks horrible. Oh my God!!!!!!! Ladies this could happen to you and Guys this could happen to your wife, girlfriend, partner so please BEWARE,and also warn others. It has been reported that this is happening in Zimbabwe as well, please make sure you iron your undergarments before you wear them and make sure that your clothes are ironed when they are dry and not damp.

The picture is horrible but I felt that I should share with you. After anthropologist Susan McKinley came back home from an expedition in South America, she noticed a very strange rash on her left breast. Nobody knew what it was and she quickly dismissed it believing that the holes would leave in time.
Upon her return she decided to see a doctor after she started developing intense pains. The doctor, not knowing the exact severity of the disease, gave her antibiotics and special creams. As time lapsed the pain did not subside and her left breast became more inflamed and started to bleed.
She decided to bandage her sores however as Susan’s pain grew more intense she decided to seek help from a more certified doctor.
Dr. Lynch could not diagnose the infection and told Susan to seek the aid of one of his colleagues who specialized in dermatology whom was sadly on vacation. She waited for two weeks and finally was able to react the dermatologist. Sadly, a life changing event was about to unfold during her appointment. To Miss McKinley’s surprise, after she removed the bandages, they found larva growing and squirming within the pores and sores of her breast. Sometimes these wicked creatures would all together simultaneously move around into different crevices. What she didn’t know was that the holes were in fact, deeper than she had originally thought for these larvae were feeding off the fat, tissue, and even milk canals of her bosom.

Of course, this email is a HOAX… but it´s all about Urban Legends at Lifecruiser´s Halloween Cyber Cruise today… and this is an old Urban Legend (one of my favorite SPAM mails - yes, i know I´m insane), circulating via email for ages. The Netlore Archive says the emailed image and video purport to document the medical case of a female anthropologist who failed to seek treatment for a rash and wound up with an infestation of larvae in her breast

Description: Email flier
Circulating since: 2003 (image)/2005 (video)
Status: Partly trueI´ve recieved this mail in different variations many times before. It always tells the story of a woman whose breast was infected by larvae and urges all women to wash and iron their underwear. Oh my everloving god… washing (boiling in hot water) and ironing undies. Some people should learn to change them first…

However, the attached photo made me puke and still gives me the heebies whenever I see it - although I know it was photoshopped (a picture of a female breast and lotus seed pot I assume) .

For the light-hearted those who are interested in a German Urban Legend besides the tales of ax-murderers hiding on the backseat of your car… or Little Mikey of LIFE cereal fame, who died from the exploding effects of Pop Rocks candy mixing with soda pop… I´d love to add

The Legend of Lorely

On a scenic view the Loreley is a remarkable high rock, made of schist. The roch lies impressively at a very narrow part of the rhinevalley at St. Goar, Rhineland-Pfalz, at the Taunus mountains.
The rock is 132 meter high and located at the upper middle Rhine. The Rhine is at this place 25 meters deep and 113 meter wide. It is the narrowest and deepest part of the whole river. Today the ships on the Rhine still help themselves with light signals to warn the oncoming traffic.
It is really worth is going up on the rock, since you have an amazing view through the Rhine valley and as far as the Hunsrueck Mountains.

Contrary to the expectations you will find it very vividly up there; many concerts of known music groups and theater and operetta take place regulary at the amphitheater.

The Loreley already got known in the Middle Age. Of course because of the big rock, but mainly because here you have one of the most dangerous parts of the Rhine for shipping. In those times there was a bank of sand, that disturbed the flow of the water. On the left the water fell over transverse lieing rock pieces, and on the right the water flew calmly. After the bank of sand the masses of water rejoined, but both at a different speed.

Big swirls were built, which broke many ships. Because of that reason Saint Goar settled down on that place. He wanted to save the lives of the shipwrecked.

After a legend, a mermaid called Loreley, was sitting on the Rock. She attracted many seamen with her beautiful singing. The seamen were whatching Loreley, while she was combing her golden hair.

Nobody paid attention to the dangerous rock in the water. So many boats were distroyed and the swirl (which was actually up to 27 meters deep), grabbed them.

German Poets made this place so famous. The two most important ones that formed this legend were Clemens Brentano and Heinrich Heine.

[Please grab a cup of Coffee2go and run as fast as you can if you are suffering from arachnophobia. The spider might follow you quickly.]

It´s “Share Your Scare”-Night @ Lifecruiser´s Halloween Cruise - you´re all invited to share your scares. A while ago I was tagged to play the Middlename MEME and I rethought my answer lately: Call me “Sanni Milquetoast J.”

A lot of things are scaring the s*it out of me. Most of all I fear losing a loved one, not necessarily by dying or my little son Luis growing up and hating me.

There´s one thing scaring me to death: Creatures with more than four legs and anything above two eyes, primarily Sp… SP… SPIDERS. I tried to face my fear some years ago inviting Sir Humphrey, a huge bird spider, to be my room-mate. The outcome of our hairy relationship was I didn´t fear Sir Humphrey, but each and every other spider still scare me, especially the Brown Recluse Spider.

The Brown Recluse Spider is not native in my part of the world, but each year summer visitors bring them along in their camping gear, or they arrive in shipments of goods and materials from other places.

Be careful where you put your hands. They like dark spaces, woodpiles, toolboxes, or any reasonably cool area. They like the darkness and tend to live in storage sheds or attics or other areas that might not be frequented by people or light.

If you have a need to be in your attic, go up there and turn on a light and leave it on for about 30 minutes before you go in to do your work. Be careful, also, before putting on overalls, coats, etc., that have been hanging unused in a dark area for some time.
Why? Because the bite of this famous spider injects a toxic that eats away your skin.

The following slideshow is definitely not for the squeamish - like me. I wanted to puke when I first saw the pictures of the poor man. The man you will see was bitten by a Brown Recluse and he was being treated for the bite. The venom causes rapid tissue necrosis and apparently remain active for a long time in sensitive people (up to 2 years as far as I know).

What are your scares?

*BOOH*,

Sanni

Homer: [Chuckles]. Didn’t even pull the string that time.

What would Halloween be without a good scare? Today marks the start of our Lifecruiser Halloween Cyber Cruise - The Oddly Ghost Halloween Post for your spooooooooky Halloween pleasure.

I could have posted a story about myself… since the latest Crohn´s flare-up kept me away from blogging for a more than a week. My skin looks like a more or less transparent liverwurst and I´ve lost a few more pounds. No, I won´t update my weightloss-ticker. Far too scaaaaary. BOOH!

I decided to tell you a story which happened some years ago, at our dancing class ball:

H
e was tiffing a little, standing at the sidelines while all the other men were dancing with their pretty partners. His lady had not come to the dance that night. Her mother was ill, and so his girl had remained at her side.

A fine docile act, he thought sourly, but it left him at loose ends.
His friend, Herbert, came up to him between sets with a cold drink and some words of encouragement.

“After all, Johanna is not the only girl in the world,” Frederic said.
“There are many pretty girls here tonight. Just dance with one of them.”

Bolstered by his friend’s words, he started looking around the dance hall. His eye fell upon a beautiful young girl standing wistfully at the edge of the floor beside the door to the terrace. She was dressed in an old-fashioned white gown and her skin was pale as the moon. Her dark eyes watched the dance hungrily from her position behind a tall fern, and he felt his heart beat faster.

Such a lovely woman should be dancing with! He made his way through the bustling crowd and bowed to that beautyl in white. She looked startled by his addresses, as if she had not expected anyone to notice her that night. But she readily assented to dance with him, and he proudly led her out onto the floor for the next set, all thoughts of Johanna gone from his mind.

Frederic and some of his other friends gave him odd looks as he danced with the beauty in white. A few times, the man opposite them bumped right into them as if he had not seen his partner at all. He was furious and wanted to stop the dance and make the man apologize to the beauty in white, but she just laughed and hushed him. When the dance was over, he hurried to get his fair partner a drink.

Frederic approached him at the refreshment table. “When I told you to dance, I meant with a partner,” his friend teased him. “I was dancing with a partner,” he replied, irritated by his friends remark. “The loveliest lady in all of Germany!” - “You’ve had too much to drink, my friend,” Frederic replied. “You were dancing by yourself out there!”
He glared at his friend and turned away without answering him. Making his way back to the beauty in white, he handed her a glass and asked her to stroll with him along the terrace. The night was beautiful, the sky full of stars, and he stared at the beauty in white with his heart in his eyes as they stood looking out over the beautiful scene.
The beauty in white turned to him with a sigh and said: “Thank you for the dance. It has been a very long time since I had such pleasure.” - “Let us dance again, then.” he said infatuatedly. But she shook her head. “I must leave now…” she said, catching up her skirts with one hand and drifting toward the stairs at the side of the terrace.
“Please don’t go!” he pleaded, following her. “I must…” she said, turning to look at him. Her eyes softened when she saw the look on his face.
“Come with me?” she invited, holding out a pale hand. His heart pounded rapidly at the thought. More than anything in the world, he wanted to go with this lovely beauty in white.

And then his mind registered the fact that he could see the stone wall of the terrace through the girl’s hand. His desire melted away before the shock of that realization. He looked into her face again, and realized that she was fading away before his eyes. At the look of horror on his face, thebeauty gave a sad laugh and dropped her hand, which was nearly transparent now. “Goodbye…” she said, her body becoming thin and misty. “Goodbye.” Then she was gone.

He gave a shout of terror when he realized he had been dancing with a ghost. He bolted from the premises, leaving his horse behind, and ran all the way home.

When Frederic came the next day to bring him his horse, he told his friend the whole story. Frederic whistled in awe.

“You saw the spirit of Kassandra, my friend,” he said. “She was the daughter of one of the local aristocracy who lived in this region more than a hundred years ago. She died of consumption the night before her first ball and they say her spirit sometimes attends the local dances, hoping to claim one of the dances that she missed.”

He shuddered at the thought of his dance with the ghost. “I will not be visiting that dance hall again,” he told Frederic. “From now on, all my dances will be with Johanna!”

And he kept his word.

BOOH! Are you scared, yet?

Catch ya,

Sanni
