… and I wonder whom summer is calling? Me? No way! Germany neither. I can still remember the cozy heat when I posted my Top 50 Cruising Songs. Now the weather is miserable. There´s rain between the showers. ;)

I can see myself being a granny, sitting in a rocking chair… asking little huge Luis: “This picture was taken in 2007. Do you remember this year? 2007´s summer was on a Tuesday!”

To prevend this I´m calling summer and sun, which both seem to be hiding in Greece right now!

LilSanni likes it HOT - besides my addiction to coffee I suffer from a concentrated passion for different styles of music, mostly depending on my mood. But there are a few artists and bands I could always listen to - like

Jamiroquai

The band´s name is derived from the Native American Iroquois tribe, with which Kay has said he identifies philosophically, combined with ‘Jam’, as in musical jamming. Jamiroquai is a Grammy Award-winning English acid jazz band and was initially the most prominent component in the early-1990s London-based acid jazz movement Subsequent albums have explored other musical directions. The lineup of the band has changed several times, but the core member of the band is lead singer and songwriter Jason “Jay” Kay.
Since Jay Kay’s emergence from London’s acid jazz underworld in 1992, Jamiroquai has sold more than 20 million albums, racked up a Grammy and five MTV Awards, recorded a handful of top ten hits, toured the planet several times over and garnered international acclaim.

Jamiroquai’s impact on both music and pop culture continues to grow, as evidenced by the recent inclusion of 1999’s No. 1 dance hit, “Canned Heat,” in the mega-popular cult hit, Napoleon Dynamite. The scene in which the film’s star, Jon Heder, dances to the song recently won an MTV Movie Award for “Best Action Sequence.”

Canned Heat” is definitely on my all-time favorite “ragtop songs” list. I often find myself beating the heat, driving our Mini Cooper Convertible, bawling singing

Dance
Hey DJ let the music play
Let the music play
I’m gonna let this party live
I wanna let this party live
Hey DJ throw my cares away
Let the music play
I’m gonna live this party live
Hey DJ let the music play
I’m gonna let this party live
Hey DJ throw my cares away
I’m gonna let this party live
Canned heat in my heels tonight You know, you know this boogie is for real
Got so much canned heat in my heels…

… or one of Jamiroquai´s other excellent songs.

And you? What do you do to beat the heat? I´m sure you´ll find a bunch of tips when you hop over to Mo, the hot founder of Manic Monday, who came up with the word “heat” for this week´s theme!

Off to serve up iced coffee for all my sweating fellow bloggers…
catch ya,

Sanni
