QUAKE

Back in the 90s my parents, my ex-boyf and I used to play Canasta once in a month. Lots of fun, lots of food and LOTS of alcohol were part of that one special night. We went to bed some minutes earlier - the earth started shaking, the bed did, I did. I was so plastered I thought some more or less little creatures were coming my way to haunt me… thrill me, kill me, grill me. Seconds later the whole fuss was over. Me? I couldn´t sleep, still waiting for the creatures to come. *shock* *shock* *shock*

Next morning my parents told us we´ve had a minor earthquake the night before. A 3.2 magnitude as far as I can remember… the first earthquake in my life - the earthquake that made me stay away from alcohol for a looooong time. I´ve never ever been that drunk again - and I´ve never ever played Canasta agian. *LOL*

However, the above mentioned earthquake wasn´t me… the 2.8 magnitude in Bremen, Germany (April 03, 2008) wasn´t me… but… well, I´ve been to that place which must not be named today in the morning… the enemy under my feet told me something like: “This scale is NOT produced for trucks or elephants!” -

See, Hamster 2.0 is growing, my belly is… and the rest of me… well, is growing, too. If you fell the earth move under your feet… this could be my fault. Ooooops… sorry. Another great reason for me to stay in bed: Avoiding earthquakes… *LOL*

Coffee And Cake

Happy Manic Monday, peeps!

Coffee and cake anyone?

And now…
… our moment of Homer J.:

Homer: You’ll have to speak up, I’m wearing a towel.

Hamster 2.0 - A (more or less) little update

Thank you all so much for your kind comments, emails, ecards, positive thoughts, good vibes and prayers - your caring means a lot to me. ♥

Please grab your piece(s) of cake and a coffee (tea, soda, …), sit back and relax.
Are you ready for a little update?

Okay, here we go:
We visited the doctor today.

On the one hand he was very pleased to tell us the cervix is still at 3 and the preterm labor is in a stalemate. Your positve “stay inside” thoughts (Thanks again! xoxoxo) and my resting worked. *LOL* Looks like the little one doesn´t plan to move out during this week… *phew*

On the other hand, instead of moving out this week, our little girl seems to have some new plans: The ultrasound showed Hamster 2.0 decided to change her position again. She turned back into a breech presentation.

Also some of you might remember I´ve had some EPH gestosis problems while I was expecting Luis - and this late gestation disorder seems to come back now. This means a rise of my blood pressure, egg-white excretion of protein in the urine and edemas (water inclusions with solid tumescences at the ankles, the legs, the hands and in the face).

This < irony > fantastic < / irony > combination might result in another c-section.

However… all we hope for is the little camera-shy girl will stay inside.

Yes, *grin* Hamster 2.0 once didn´t allow the doctor to get a 3D ultrasound picture (or a 4D ultrasound movie). She´s had her hands AND her feet AND her umbilical cord in front of her face. The monitor displayed a huge black hole. The doc tickled her a bit to see if she´d turn around… and Hamster 2.0 reacted… showing off her cute little butt… *shock* and a 100% proof she´s a diva a girl. *LOL* *LOL* *LOL*

We´ll try to get a (blogable) 3D photo when meeting the doc again. Until then I´ll leave you with a belly pic… Hamster 2.0 is not the only one growing daily. Me, too. ;-)

Coffee And Cake

Trying to catch up now! Love ya all!

Additional coffee and cake anybody?

And now…

Homer: I hope I didn’t brain my damage!

… I AM alive, but terribly sick.

The whole fun began on Tuesday: Early labor pain…
There had been some visible, but minor contradictions during the CTG at the last monthly pregnancy checkup. That´s why I first thought the contradictions are the typical lightning contradictions - I supposed Hamster 2.0 making some busy efforts to settle deeper into my pelvis.

Uhm… okay… I was SO wrong. Shortly after I felt contractions every 10 minutes apart and a cramp-like sensation in the thighs: preterm labor!

To keep a long story short: Hamster 2.0 is fine (TG!) and still inside ;-) . We´re doing everything possible to halt the preterm labor:

- Drinking lots of fluids and lying down on my left side to improve circulation to the uterus.

- Lots of magnesium sulfate (IV) and other meds.

- Relaxation and breathing techniques

The cervix is dilated to 3 so far. We´re expecting continued bed rest will be recommended. This sounds quite hard to a “nesting” mommy(-to-be).
I wake up every morning feeling energetic, raring to attack dust bunnies under the couch and arrange Hamster 2.0´s outfits according to color, as well as Luis´ building bricks. *LOL*

However, I´ll do my very best to rest and give Hamster 2.0 a snuggly place inside for at least 4 more weeks (any day before we´ll get an injection of potent steroids to speed Hamster 2.0´s lung maturity).

Please keep your fingers crossed, peeps. ♥

Special thanks to all of you!

Coffee And Cake

Coffee and cake anyone?

And now…
… our moment of Homer J.:

Homer: Marge, I’m going to miss you so much. And it’s not just the sex! It’s also the food preparation.

Hamster 2.0 week 28+6

She´s everything but little. We´re back from the 3rd pregnancy screening in week 28+6 - our “little” girl´s amazing facts: 39.9 cm / 1300 g (1.31 feet, 2.86 lb).
This time Hamster 2.0 didn´t sleep during the photosession. She was wide awake, tumbling around like a humming-top.
That´s why we rescheduled our 3D ultrasound appointment to April 18th.
The only body parts we were “allowed” to capture today were her cute right foot, part of her right leg and her right hand grabbing the foot! :-P
