25-365: Snowy with a Chance of Meatballs

01-25-10 | Snapped by Sanni | Filed under world outside my window |

[ My granny Anni and I watched sundowns together as often as possible. She told me the beautiful color of the sky was caused the angels in heaven baking christmas cookies for the season.
I guess one of those angels must have knocked over a huge sack of powdered sugar last night.
The world outside my window looks like covered in powdered sugar... must be powdered sugar, because this can't be retro weather... or is it snow again? No. Having snow again would implicate our furry diva Jersey was mistaken when she began to get rid of her winter coat last week.
Thus far, she never erred... Snow or powdered sugar - what ever it is - the world looks so much friendlier now. Good for me since I tend to suffer from seasonal affective disorder when it's all greyish and dark. I feel good and can hardly resist munching a sugar-covered branch. *LOL*
Anyway, I'm pretty sure the rest of the family won't be satisfied munching branches for dinner.
How about Italian cuisine?
Something easy... spaghetti with meatball sauce... or carbonara à la mama?

11-365: LilSnowman - The Disclaimer Version

[ A few days back I posted a pic of my little snowman. Both him and I agreed "Size Doesn't Matter".
We were wrong. Sometimes in life size does surely matter... especially when it comes to a weather front like "Daisy", coming along with loads of snow.
I was also informed there are other times in life where size also does matter.
*insert innocent facial expression HERE *
However, LilSnowman is happy to be tall enough to still being able to watch me blog from the patio. ]

10-365: Schlittenfahrt

[Come visit my Facebook profile for more pics]

After we got round about 15cm (ca. 6 inches) of fresh snow yesterday, Captain Luis was finally able to ride on his sleigh this evening. It was fun seeing my kids having fun in the snow, all three of them *g*Yes, this is my humble try paraphrasing Frank acted like a 5 yo - and I loved it.
Boys and their toys…
Speaking of toys… the sled in the pic belonged to me when I was a little one. MaPa handed it down to Luis and Lily last week. I couldn’t resist to ride it - and it felt as if the sleigh recognized it’s former owner’s behind immediately… although said behind somehow seems to have exponentially biggified over the years.

350-365: Let It Snow…

[Right now there are about 2,5 cm (1 inch) of fine white powder snow on the patio.
I can't wait to build a sexy snowman and get into snowball fights.
Be glad you can't hear me singing along right now: "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow..."]

The Sunday before Advent marks “Totensonntag” in the protestant parts of Germany.
We commemorate the beloved persons who died.
This is our church right before the service starts…
… and right after it started to snow.

Yesterday´s been a quite busy and looooong day. We visited my parents in Dortmund. They had invited Luis for a PJ-party.
Thereafter we drove to Bochum to pick up Jens.
After we bought a birthday present for “the other Jens” we were finally ready for take-off to the Sauerland.

Our acquaintances Jens (yes, the name “Jens” is rampant in Germany *g*) and Ben moved to Luedenscheid / Sauerland 3 years ago.

Snow greeted us yesterday in the morning in the part of Germany we´re living in. This happens rarely.

When it snows here, as a rule, there are usually tons of snow in the Sauerland…

To keep a long and weird story short - I loved the tons of sparkling snow so much I had to snap a shot today in the early morning when we left Jens´ and Ben´s home at about 3:30 am:

This is what greeted us when we looked outside the window this morning…
… snowy winter returned to Germany.

Merci
