[ We watched the opening ceremony for the Winter Olympics 2010 in Vancouver. The ceremony was aired live from 3 am this morning in our part of the world.
I had goose bumps all over my body. The goose bumps made me discover parts of my body I wasn't aware of - and I had goose bumps on my goose bumps and goose bumps on those additional goose bumps on my newly discovered body parts:
From the opening section, when Johnny Lyall slided down a slope, while people held torches in the shape of the maple leaf and the dates and locations of previous Winter Olympic games were recalled in voiceover, over the National Anthem, the Welcome by the First Nations, the Parade of the Nations, the Athlete Tribute Song performed by Nelly Furtado and Bryan Adams to the Landscape of Dream, over to the Entry of the Flag and the Lightning of the Cauldron... we experienced PURE JOY!!!
One of my favorite parts was K.D. Lang singing "Hallelujah".
The minute's silence in commemoration of the Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili brought tears to my eyes. May he rest in peace. We keep his family, friends and team members in our thoughts and prayers. ]
