59-365: The Calm Before the Storm

03-01-10 | Snapped by Sanni | Filed under flower power, weather |

[ The picture was taken just several minutes before low-pressure system Xynthia hit us with hurricane-force winds of over 220 km/h (137 mph). Xynthia brought the strongest wind that had been recorded since the beginning of scientific weather observation at the end of the 19th century to Europe. TG our family is fine. Our hearts go out to the families who have lost loved ones to the hurricane. ]

58-365: A Day in the Woods

02-27-10 | Snapped by Sanni | Filed under world outside my window |

[ After several days of hard rain, the sun was willing to give a cameo appearance today. The weather forecast for tomorrow predicts thunderstroms and hurricanes, so today seemed to be our only chance taking the triple terror (Luis, Lily and Jersey) out for spending some weekend quality family time in the woods.
We made a quick visit to the fleamarket before we headed to the Grafenberger Wald.
The five of us had a bunch of fun exploring the dampish woods... so many different scents and textures to explore.
Both kids were mostly attracked by mini mushies and moss
while Jersey prefered processing clammy knobs to tooth picks.

Once again I have to praise my slowcooker. It was nice to be greeted by the delicious smell of Beouf Stroganoff after we returned home in the evening. We arrived 15 minutes before our guests C+R - and all I had to do was set the table and open the wine before starting a lovely evening with friends.
Life is good. ]

57-365: Censored

[ Oh my word...
Looks like Captain Luis adopted a new gesture and an additional phrase from one of the kids at the kindergarten.
We knew this day was about to come sooner or later,
but nevertheless we were a little shocked on the one hand, but also a bit amused on the other hand.

Today was obviously themed "revolt against anyone and anything". Shortly after Luis returned home from the kindergarten, my 3-year-old baby boy and I had the following, fairly flabbergasting conversation:

Me: "Luis, please clean up your room."
Luis: "No, I don't want to. It's MY room."
Me: "Your room is part of MY house and I'd like you to cl..."
Luis: "Well, it's YOUR house... why don't YOU clean it then...?"

I did have a hard time not to burst with laughter. His acuteness (and cuteness) is just one thing why I love my Luis so much. Considering he's 3 years old I see a lot of jaw-dropping fun coming my way. ]

56-365: Mommy’s Crayon Box

02-25-10 | Snapped by Sanni | Filed under home sweet home |

[ Several hours of my day were spent in the master bathroom. I cleared out all commodes.
Two huge trash bags of useless stuff are gone, including make-up, sun blocker, parfum, etc pp. Mommy's crayon box - as Luis names my make-up-bags - is neat and organized again.
Same procedure will happen to all other rooms during the week.
Hope this will help keeping the upcoming move less laborious and stressful.
Packing all our stuff is definitely something I'm NOT looking forward to...  ]

[ This beautiful key ring is a special gift. I'm going to use it for the first time as soon as I'm holding the keys to our new home in my hands - I'm blessed to have such thoughtful and caring friends. ]

54-365: Vanilla Twilight

02-23-10 | Snapped by Sanni | Filed under flower power |

[ The stars lean down to kiss you,
And I lie awake I miss you.
Pour me a heavy dose of atmosphere.
'Cause I'll doze off safe and soundly,
But I'll miss your arms around me.
I'd send a postcard to you dear,
'Cause I wish you were here.

I watch the night turn light blue.
But it's not the same without you,
Because it takes two to whisper quietly,
The silence isn't so bad,
Till I look at my hands and feel sad,
'Cause the spaces between my fingers
Are right where yours fit perfectly.

I'll find repose in new ways,
Though I haven't slept in two days,
'Cause cold nostalgia chills me to the bone.
But drenched in Vanilla twilight,
I'll sit on the front porch all night,
Waist deep in thought because when I think of you.
I don't feel so alone.
I don't feel so alone.
I don't feel so alone.

As many times as I blink I'll think of you... tonight.
I'll think of you tonight.

When violet eyes get brighter,
And heavy wings grow lighter,
I'll taste the sky and feel alive again.
And I'll forget the world that I knew,
But I swear I won't forget you,
Oh if my voice could reach back through the past,
I'd whisper in your ear,
Oh darling I wish you were here... ]

53-365: Monster Fan

02-22-10 | Snapped by Sanni | Filed under mac |

[ Miss Sanni proudly presents the latest steal from ebay: a new cooling pad for her macbook pro.
The notebook cooler comes with a so called "monster cooling fan" (loved the expression) sized 10" and 5 über-kitchy switchable blue LEDs
. I hope my beloved macbook will love this treat and bear a longer charmed life when pampered by this monster fan.

Speaking of "charmed life"... my day has been all else but charming. I'd love to rewind to about 6 am this morning - but first I'll treat myself with a glass of Gavi.
*deep sigh*
Okay, enough whining. I'm off to my wine, looking forward to having a better day tomorrow. ]

[ Splish Splash, we were takin' a bath...
Long about a Saturday
Sunday night, yeah...
Rub-a-dub, just relaxin' in the tub...

50-365: Sick Baby Boy

02-19-10 | Snapped by Sanni | Filed under Luis |

[ Holding my baby boy's hand in the ER. Our second visit this week. We've been there twice with Luis and Lily. We all wonder when this madness will end... and we count our blessings every day - like: We've been allowed to take both home with us. Of course we have to follow strict guidelines, but at least neither Lily nor Luis had to stay in the hospital.

As usual, thoughts, prayers and good vibes are much appreciated. ]

49-365: Curling - Women’s Round Robin #4

02-18-10 | Snapped by Sanni | Filed under TV |

[ The double trouble is still ill and I'm on their nightwatch. While they are sleeping safe and sound I spend my night watching the Olympics. Now aired: Women's curling - Canada (skip: Cheryl Bernard) vs. Germany (skip: Andrea Schoepp). It's fun to watch, especially since I know the rules from one of our wii games *g*
The session ended 6:5 for Canada and their gorgeous skip Cheryl Bernard. GO CANADA!!!

Still can't believe Cheryl Bernard is 43 years old... I wonder if it's just the ice that keeps her wrinkle-free. If so I'll have to spend some hours in an ice rink instead of on the wii :-) ]

48-365: Lust for… Yoghurt?!

02-17-10 | Snapped by Sanni | Filed under shopping |

[ Back home from a quick grocery shopping trip. I had to fix the fridge up with just a few things: fresh fruits, veggies, panini, and butter. Yoghurt was the last things on my shopping list. I stood in front of the refrigerated display case, searching for Luis' favorite yoghurt ("Paula") and Lily's choice ("Fruchtzwerge"). After I placed those in my shopping cart, I found myself adding yoghurt for me. I couldn't decide, ended up buying each flavor TWICE:

2x cherry
2x strawberry
2x vanillia
2x hazelnut
2x walnut / macadamia
2x plum / cinnamon
2x citron
2x marchpane
2x stracciatella
2x roast apple

___________________________
20 yoghurts

I don't even LIKE walnuts. But I pretty much remember the last time I felt such a rampant lust for yoghurt... and what happened 6 month later. Hmmmmm... whoops.  ]
