Hell yeah, we’re still working on reversing Murphy’s Law…
it’s getting more and more complicated and confusing, so I decided to share some background information today:

Our plan was to search for a new home in Spain. We got lots of offers and visited many, many houses. Most of the houses were nice, but we never got the “That’s IT”-feeling during our tours.

The only one that felt like home came around with two problems - one minor and one major problem. The minor problem included that there was room enough for us (master bedroom and one bedroom for each kiddo), but no guestroom. The architect offered to plan such a guestroom. It could have been build for additional 30.000 EUR. So far, so good.

The major problem was - and still is - money. What else?! The landlord, a Spanish guy who lives for building and selling fincas and building and selling new fincas from the proceeds, invoiced 30% more than we planed to spend (and can afford to spend). The house is still available for sale and since he didn’t sell it so far, he even hightend his invoice to 1,750.000 EUR (!!!). However, we didn’t find another house in Spain that felt as much like “home” as this one did.

Our current home turns out to be “House from Hell” (our lawyers told me I should not go into details online, so if you’re interested to hear what we’re going through, just mail.)

The new plans include searching for a huge apartment / small(er) cottage in Spain and finding a new house in Germany, which can be either

1.) be by building a new one or

2.) just buying a house, which finally brings me to today’s photo:

The agency offered this beautiful, fully refurbished and renovated mansion. Build in 1904 the beauty’s under monument protection. We’d love to have a small glass balcony added to the livingroom on the second floor, right above the old magnolias. Now we need to ask the city building authority for permission. If they will agree we will sign the contract.
